Student welfare
At Rosehill College, the well-being of our students is our top priority. This page provides essential information and resources to support our students in various aspects of their school life.
Our canteen
Our canteen is currently operated by the school to ensure students continue to have access to fresh and affordable food options throughout the day.
Our menu includes a variety of hot meals, sandwiches, snacks, and drinks, with options rotating regularly and seasonally to suit student preferences. We aim to provide nutritious and convenient food choices to support student wellbeing and energy levels during the school day.
If you have any inquiries for the canteen, you can email [email protected].

Restorative practice
Restorative practices are best understood as a 'community response' to wrong-doing. This involves bringing together all of the people involved in an incident to understand how people have been affected, with a focus on putting it right.
Why is Rosehill College using this approach?
Educators are recognising that restorative practices have many advantages over punishment alone:
- Restorative practices have a focus on people, not rules.
- Restorative practices give victims a voice about how they want their case to be handled.
- Restorative practices make students who offend accountable to the people they have hurt.
- Restorative practices address the root cause of an issue, not just the symptoms.
How do restorative practices fit with our values? Perfectly! Rosehill College is a community of students, parents and staff — so having a community or hui response to wrong-doing is ideal. Restorative practices place a priority on protecting relationships and rebuilding them if they become damaged through a harmful incident. Restorative practices are built upon core values such as Respect, Responsibility and Caring — which match our own values.
Hauora — health & wellbeing
Te Whare Kimiora
Me mahi tahi tātou mō te oranga o te katoa — we work together for the wellbeing of everyone.
Te Whare Kimiora is our health and wellbeing hub, based in M4 next to the nurses' clinic. It brings together our counselling team, registered nurses and Kaimanaaki (Māori support), so every student has somewhere safe to turn — whether they need to talk something through, see a nurse, or find the right support beyond school.
Our counselling team
Our counsellors are full members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), receive regular supervision, and work alongside a wide range of agencies who can help with more complex needs.

Talking to a counsellor
What we can help with
Our school-based health and wellbeing services are here to help students stay healthy, feel supported, and take part in school life.
The team provides a safe and welcoming place where students can talk about health concerns, receive appropriate care, ask questions, and get help when something is affecting their wellbeing or ability to learn.
Our aim is to make healthcare easier to access for students who may face barriers such as cost, transport, cultural concerns, or simply not knowing where to go for support.
How to get support
Students can get in touch in whatever way feels easiest:
- Email [email protected]
- Fill in an Appointment Request Form — on the bookshelf in the counselling building
- Drop in to Te Whare Kimiora (M4) during break times
Staff who are worried about a student can refer through the student's Head of House, who will follow up with the team.
Confidentiality and Consent
Students' health information is managed in accordance with legal and professional requirements, including the Health Information Privacy Code.
Information shared with the health team is treated confidentially. There are circumstances where information may need to be shared to meet legal or safety requirements.
Where appropriate, we encourage students to involve their parents or caregivers in decisions about their health. We recognise, however, that having a trusted and confidential place to seek help can be an important part of supporting young people.
Our registered nurse team
The Health Centre sits alongside Te Whare Kimiora in M4. Our registered nurses provide free, confidential health care to help students stay well, attend school and thrive.

Our Approach
