Celebrating Excellence in STEM and Community Service

Congratulations to Year 9 student Arielle MinHee Kim on her outstanding achievements at this year's New Zealand Robotic Olympiad (NZRO).

Arielle has competed in the NZRO for the past six years, earning a medal every year she has entered. This year's competition was another remarkable success, with Arielle receiving:

• 🥈 Silver Medal – Cyber Robot (Senior Low Category)
• 🥉 Bronze Medal – Creative Tech (Senior Low Category)
• 🏆 Technology Award – Battle Soccer Double (Senior Low Category)

Arielle was also honoured with the prestigious IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Inspiration Award, recognising her passion for STEM, leadership, and contribution to the field of robotics.

Supported by the University of Auckland Faculty of Engineering, the New Zealand Robotic Olympiad is the country's premier robotics competition. It challenges students in robotics, programming, engineering, innovation, and creative problem-solving. Arielle's outstanding performance has also earned her the opportunity to represent New Zealand at an international competition later this year.

Her impact reaches well beyond competition. Together with a long-time robotics teammate, Arielle co-founded Te Puna STEAM, a youth-led initiative that delivers free, hands-on STEAM workshops for tamariki across South Auckland. During the recent school holidays, they hosted their third community workshop at Papakura Library, generously volunteering their time to inspire the next generation of young learners.

Arielle's achievements are about more than medals and awards. Her curiosity, commitment to learning, and willingness to give back to her community reflect the values we strive to nurture at Rosehill College.
