Remembering Seema Shankar
It is with great sadness that I write to let you know of the passing of one of our valued staff members, Seema Shankar, who passed away early this morning after a courageous battle with cancer.
Seema joined Rosehill College in 2020 as a Soft Materials teacher. During her time here, she touched the lives of many students through her dedication, patience, and genuine care. She believed in helping every student succeed and worked tirelessly to create a classroom where young people felt supported, encouraged, and capable.
Seema's kindness extended well beyond her classroom. She was a thoughtful colleague, a calm and caring presence, and someone who built meaningful relationships with both students and staff. Her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
This is a deeply felt loss for our kura. Our thoughts are with Seema's family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.
We know this news will affect people in different ways. Support will be available at school over the coming days for any students or staff who would like someone to talk to.
We will share further information as it becomes available, including opportunities for our school community to come together and remember Seema.
Nāku noa, nā
