Double Triumph for Rosehill Student at National Fashion Awards
Rosehill College is thrilled to celebrate the incredible success of Riti Chand, who has achieved an unprecedented double win in New Zealand’s top secondary-level fashion competitions.
Riti has taken out 1st Place in the Senior Technical category at the 2025 HETTANZ Fashion Awards, one of the most prestigious national competitions recognising excellence in design and garment construction. This remarkable achievement follows her earlier victory in another major secondary school fashion competition—making her the only known student in the country to have won both of New Zealand’s biggest fashion awards at secondary level.
The HETTANZ team congratulated Riti for her “outstanding efforts,” commending the skill and creativity that set her work apart on the national stage.
Fashion and Design teacher Ms Turketo expressed immense pride in her student’s success:
“Riti has won the two biggest fashion awards at secondary level in New Zealand—and is the only person I know of who’s achieved both! What an incredible accomplishment!”
Principal’s Assistant Ms Herst and Head of House Ms Sorensen also shared their congratulations, describing the win as “amazing” and “incredible”.
Riti’s achievement reflects the talent, perseverance, and creativity fostered within Rosehill College’s Fashion and Design programme. Her success serves as an inspiration to students across Aotearoa pursuing excellence in the creative arts.
