Head of Faculty English (4MU)

Full Time, Start date: Term 1, 2027 or by negotiation

We are seeking a well-organised, innovative and inspiring leader for our growing English team. The successful candidate will be able to improve student achievement in both English and Literacy, with a focus on wellbeing and positive learning relationships.

Applicants should have a current New Zealand teacher registration and a strong knowledge of Phase 4 of the New Zealand curriculum for English. Experience in leadership is an advantage. The successful candidate will have:

  • knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • a genuine passion for English teaching
  • experience in building and shaping an effective team
  • demonstrated capacity to improve student achievement
  • relational practices that tautoko positive relationships within our kura and ensure te reo me ōna Tikanga are upheld
  • a genuine interest in collaborative planning for the implementation of Phase 5 of the New Zealand Curriculum
  • experience with differentiated teaching and UDL for English and Literacy skills development
  • a clear understanding of NCEA English
  • experience in teaching and programme development for both junior and senior levels of English
  • commitment to mana ōrite mō te mātauranga māori, and cultural responsiveness is also essential.
